Truly a Miracle

Just returned from witnessing my friend’s first child being born and I have to say it is the most amazing thing I have ever had the honor to see.  If anything merits a “bonus blog” over the weekend, surely a few words about this does.

That was the first time I have been in the delivery room for a baby brought into the world.  What an exhilarating experience.  With her Mom and Dad (now Grandma and Grandpa!) and some spectacular aid from the nurses, my friend delivered a beautiful new boy.

It was great to be there and fascinating to see how we all were holding our breath and pushing with her each time she did.  It’s an unconscious thing, I guess, as we all “help” her push that little tyke out (although not so little feeling to the birthing Mom, I’m sure).  Each time a little closer until the little miracle occurs.

How extraordinary to watch as in mere moments (and a little cleaning) a stunningly gorgeous baby reveals itself.  And when the Mom’s eyes finally grace her child for the first time…unforgettable.

Though words are my craft, I can find none that can effectively describe that scene.  Amazing.  Truly a miracle.

That is truly an amazing experience. I got to see both of my children come into this world and the feeling you get when you first see the baby is something you will always remember.
Speaking of babies, I am literally moments away from leaving for the hospital to be there when my first grandchild is born.

Congratulations! I think it’s quite the opposite of making you feel old, it reminds you of the wonder and innocence of youth.
