Surely, you can’t be serious

SS2015 frontI am and, yeah, don’t call me Shirley.

My morning routine is quite simple. I find that the best way to have a “routine” is to keep it simple.

So, I get up at 5 am, post a little ditty to my JSA Facebook page and then pop on CNN or CNBC while I run through my exercises (approx. 20 minutes).

At 6 am, I start my walk, weather permitting, with the current 10 miles returning me somewhere between 8:30 and 9 am.

I shower and have my breakfast, which always includes a glass of juice. Usually, that’s freshly-squeezed orange or grapefruit (it is Florida, after all), but occasionally, it will be bottled apple or V8.

Now, of course, that “weather permitting” is a real and present danger. While Florida is rightfully called the Sunshine State, we get an awful lot of rain (including when the sun is shining…yeah, go figure).

And then, once in a very rare while, we get a cold day. By my standards, anyway.

Such was the case today. Too cold to walk (and, in fact, wet as well), it left me with a delightful opportunity to change up my routine slightly.

Not all my Christmas gifts came from me. I did have a “Secret Santa” gift which doubled as an homage to one of my favorite comedy movies and a timely option to cook up some hot chocolate.

I state here firmly that BOGO (buy one, get one free) is the most seductive marketing creation ever. I am often lured into buying twice what I need because of the illusion of getting one free (instead of both at half off).

That was the case when I picked up a box of Swiss Miss hot chocolate…and then another because it was “free”.

Twenty packets of hot chocolate for an area that gets 3 cold days a year. I’m such a smart shopper.

Still, today was one of “those” days and I also got to use my new mug, so I’m quite pleased with the change of routine.

Heck, I was so tickled, I wouldn’t even have minded you calling me Shirley.
